Liu Yandong Meets with Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary

On June 21, 2017 local time, Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary at Hungarian Parliament Building in Budapest.

Liu Yandong expressed that my visit this time is mainly to attend the opening ceremony of the 3rd China-Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) Health Ministers’ Forum. The forum was held successfully, providing new opportunities for further cooperation in health between China and the CEEC. The Chinese side is willing to, together with Hungary, intensify cooperation, ensure the China-CEEC Summit within this year a complete success, and make the “16+1” cooperation become a new highlight for both sides to enhance the integration of strategies and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation.

Liu Yandong said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Hungary, both sides have always respected and supported each other, and constantly deepened political mutual trust. President Xi Jinping and Mr. Prime Minister upgraded bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, which marks that China-Hungary relations have entered into a new historical stage. Both following a development path that suitable to respective national conditions, China and Hungary should, on the basis of the outcomes of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, strengthen the alignment of each other’s development strategies, actively advance cooperation in major projects, and enhance exchanges and cooperation in education, science, technology, culture, health care, think tank, media, youth, sports and other fields, in a bid to push China-Hungary comprehensive strategic partnership for constant development. China has decided to offer Hungary more Silk Road Scholarship opportunities from this year on.

Viktor Orban expressed that the Hungarian people and the Chinese people hold natural friendly feelings towards each other. At present, bilateral relations are at the best period in history. He was very pleased that during his recent visit to China, he and President Xi Jinping upgraded bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Highly valuing China, Hungary hopes to learn from China’s experience in state governance and administration and its development concepts, and constantly elevate the level of bilateral practical cooperation in infrastructure, economy, trade, education, health, tourism and other fields within the “Belt and Road” framework. The Hungarian side stands ready to intensify cooperation with China to ensure the China-CEEC Summit in 2017 a complete success.
