Yang Jiechi Meets with Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel of Germany

On September 17, 2017, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Vice Chancellor and Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel of Germany in Beijing.

Yang Jiechi noted that President Xi Jinping paid a successful state visit to Germany and attended the G20 Hamburg Summit this July, which vigorously promoted China-Germany all-round cooperation and deepened bilateral coordination in global economic governance and other international affairs. It is hoped that both sides could take the 45th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations as an opportunity, and stick to the spirit of equal treatment, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, so as to constantly consolidate the public opinion foundation of bilateral relations. China is willing to, together with Germany, advance the negotiation on the China-EU investment agreement and other major events, and push forward the development of China-EU partnership.

Sigmar Gabriel expressed that Germany-China relations enjoy sound development. The German side stands ready to deepen its cooperation with China in various fields, and enhance communication and coordination in international and regional affairs, so as to jointly push forward EU-China relations.

Both sides also exchanged views on some international and regional issues, China-EU relations and other topics.
